the natural weather patterns of earth and earth-like planets will always find equilibrium eventually. but in a magic world where anything can happen, it's harder to say for sure. might have to take drastic measures to keep your feet on the ground.
[ or, in river speak: they'll probably have to work hard to get through this instead of waiting for the storm to blow over. ]
[ He's starting to comprehend the River-speak a little better--or maybe it just helps that this is in writing and he gets a moment to mull it over and crack the code before responding.
But he gets it, he really does--waiting for things to improve on their own isn't the best option here, but he still thinks...maybe waiting just a little is okay. It's both stubbornness and concern; the desire to force Steve to be the one to approach him again first, but also the need to give the situation a little space before diving back into it. ]
concrete boots obviously
[ He's gotta joke...always... ]
no i get it good advice we'll see if i'm wise enough to actually follow it
i think it's good that you tried even if the end result is a little messy. we don't know when the dust in the air will settle but we keep trying anyway. hair product and concrete shoes can only get you so far.
[ doesn't have to be today, doesn't have to be tomorrow. as long as he keeps taking the next step, he should know that he's doing a good thing just by trying to be there for his friend. ]
[ River, he will be inviting you to play D&D one of these days whether you like it or not. He's already got his weird genius friend from home, may as well throw in his new weird genius friend too. ]
but yeah yeah i know i know you're in the right here how do i always end up befriending these freaky smart kids?
there's some basics but i'm gonna be honest with you, the rules are just a guideline and i'm not a stickler for them i mean, what's the point if you're not having run, right? it's kind of better if you learn as you play anyway. most of my party members are beginners these days so you won't be out of place
and something tells me you're not gonna need help with the math
it's kind of like collaborative storytelling you create a character, i send you and the others in the campaign on an adventure every so often you roll dice it's petty cool
you can technically play with as many people as you want but it gets kind of dicey with more than six and yes there is math not crazy math like...i mean itβs math even i can do
you don't really win but i promised i would stop trying to kill off characters on purpose so you can't really lose either
if you're gonna sneak me in, you're gonna have to sneak me out too. no offense. i had a friend in thorne and she said it sucked so i would prefer a vacation to an extended stay

sunny, no wind, no unhappy goats or horses
[ No, heβs not serious, but they do need someone from the Free Cities to give the weather report. ]
how about the non-weather stuff??
[ Basically: how are you holding up after that whole weird corpse ordeal? ]
no subject
less stormy so it's okay. how is your stuff?
no subject
[ River, it's not so great. He tried to talk to Steve about the island and it did not go well and made things weird. ]

you're talking to the king of the freaks
[ and proud of it! ]
ok so as soon as you figure out how the horizon works you're coming to a D&D session
i'm not taking no for an answer
no subject
[ yes, she will pick that up and run with it. ]
what are the rules? i might have a lot of time to study
[ unfortunately :( it was already hard enough to reach the horizon and the storms haven't exactly made it easier. ]

[ GOOD. ]

[ there may be the smallest amount of sass in there; if he promised to stop, it means he was already doing it. rude, eddie! ]
it's scenario-based roleplaying. that sounds really fun. i'll work hard so i can come play with you.

if nocwich ever opens again, we could do it there
or i'll just infiltrate thorne
always wanted to scale a castle wall
[ He is well aware that's not possible.
But he should have done it at some point in the 800 year AU. ]

we can find a way to sneak you in. did you know i'm officially a smuggler now?
[ she's very proud of this! ]
no subject
oh yeah?
what have you been smuggling?

[ it's not really fancy wine and they won't make that much money, but it counts! ]
that's fair though. it kind of sucks. there are no goats and we can't play D&D.
no subject
good job
wish i'd thought of that
[ He might be laughing just because it's just so outlandish and unexpected lmaooo ]
well when i scale the walls i'll bring a goat with me
solvunn won't miss just one
no subject
[ cassian is the best influence, ride or die!! ]
okay. we'll sneak you back out but the goat stays. won't be the same as you being here but maybe thorne will suck a little less.
